July 31st, 2010 1 comment

It seems that Mcneel started testing a new user interface with the cool tab function. It allows you to easily intergrate your most used tools into Tabs.

Add tabs

Usage:

If you want to switch to new ui, just type the command: testfancytoolbars and open your default toolbar layout(*.tb) or the  file (*.rui) of  Automatic Generation. The program will convert the toolbars you tick into tabs Automatic, You can also drag other toolbars whatever you want to insert an existing tab.

Other Commands:

TestsetPascalColors

TestSetdrawColors

LayoutWorkspace

testFancyToolBars

TestToolbarOptions

TestsetViewportBackground

You can even change the tab/background/… colors to match your taste.

Do you have some ideas about this new user interface? For me, it looks ok.

Single-line fonts in Rhino

July 17th, 2009 No comments

Two methods :)

1. Single-line fonts are the standard for laser cutting and CNC milling because they are more eficient to cut. Chris Chalmers provides a method of creating single-line labels by using pre-defined blocks instead of text.

How to:

  1. Import the rhino file with the text blocks into your file.
  2. Run the script and it will simply turn the text you want to use into the appropriate block and place it.

2. Install a single-line font, and you can use the typical text tools to create the text.

Download the fonts  (Unzip the files you have downloaded, then put the font files into C:\Windows\Fonts)
