How to use ies light in vray for rhino

This tutorial will teach you how to use ies light in your sense. You need to install vray for rhino first to complete this tutorial.

1. Open your interior scene and then set Vray for rhino as the current rendering engine.

Tips: The scale of the objects is important, 1:1 is better.

2. In the Rhino command prompt, type visIESlight to create a light.

3. In the Light Properties window, click on Browse button to add an existing ies file you want to use.

4. Modify other parameters to meet your needs. It seems that the intensity of the light cannot change in this version. Done.

This tutorial will show you how to use HDRI images (High Dynamic Range Images) to make realistic lighting.

Normal images can have lighting from 0 to 255. HDR images can have a much higher range since it stores values differently. The main format of HDRI images are *.hdr and *.exr files.

Download the 3d model.

In this tutorial I will show you how to render a chrome finish in Rhino.

1.You can use photoshop or hdrlightstudio to create your own enviorment bitmap like this.

2.Create a vray for rhino material and rename it to “Chrome”, click on Diffuse color, and set to black. Add a reflection layer. See picture below to set the reflection map.(click to enlarge)

3.Set the background to the enviorment map, otherwise it has nothing to reflect and will not show chrome color.

4.Render…Done!
