A rhino tutorial  offered by a support engineer from Mcneel. This type of surface  is common in phone design.

Brief intro:

1. Create the main surface (rail revolve). split the surface.

2. Network.

3. Select the control points as shown in Figure3, when the control points move following the z direction.
